LAHORE:

Dozens of paramedics at the Services Hospital staged a protest demonstration for several hours on Monday demanding that the government regularise the jobs of hospital’s contract employees.

Patients and their attendants faced great inconvenience because of the demonstration on the hospital’s premises.

Led by Yousaf Billa, the protesters carried banners and posters inscribed with their demands. Some of the protesters raised slogans against the government. They demanded that the Health Department take notice of delay in regularisation of their jobs. The protesters said they would expand the scope of their protest if their demands were not met. Many patients remained unattended during the protest.

The paramedics had earlier staged a protest demonstration at the hospital on December 4, one in front of the Civil Secretariat on November 23 and one at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology on December 2.
