KARACHI: Sindh home secretary, DPO Kandhkot and Gheelpur police station SHO, Kashmore-Kandhkot, were put on notice for January 14 by the Sindh High Court on Friday.

The bench, comprising Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Munib Akhtar, were hearing a constitutional petition filed by Shafi Muhammad and three other farmers who claimed to be grass-root level political workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid.

They maintained that out of political enmity, some local leaders of the ruling party in collusion with the area police had them implicated in “false and concocted cases” of murder, attempt to murder and activities detrimental to peace and law and order. Citing the district and sessions judge, Kandhkot, as one of the respondents, the petitioners maintained that charge sheets have been submitted against them before the court.

The bench, after hearing the counsel, ordered the issuance of notices to the respondents for January 14.
