After recently celebrating her 116th birthday, Morano became the oldest person in Europe and the second-oldest in the world.
Morano has been eating raw eggs every day for more than nearly 100 years after a doctor recommended to her as a treatment for anaemia.

"For lunch I'll eat pasta and minced meat, while for dinner I'll have just a glass of milk," says Morano.
After leaving a violent husband in 1938, Morano reveals she had many suitors but resisted all their advances.
"I didn't want to be dominated by anyone," she says.
Morano may also have benefited from good genes as her sister, Angela Morano, died four years ago at the age of 102.
Marking her 116th birthday Morano sang her favourite song for visiting well-wishers, Italian media reported.

“I’m fine, I’m fine and as long as it stays like that I will remain with you,” she was quoted as saying. “You know I have a beautiful voice, if you like I can sing Parlami d’amore Mariù [Talk to me about love, Mariu].”
Morano lives in a one-bedroom flat in Verbania, a small town in the Piedmont region of north-west Italy.
