Rangers kill two suspected militants in Karachi shootout

Sindh Rangers on Wednesday conducted an intelligence-driven operation in which two militants were killed in Karachi's Mai Gari Northern Bypass area.

Rangers acted on a tip-off and conducted the operation on the hideouts of suspected militants, upon which; they were met with retaliatory firing. As a result of the exchange firing, two suspected militants were killed and their identities are yet to be ascertained.

The shootout comes following the drive-by shooting in Karachi's MA Jinnah Road a day earlier, which killed two Military Police (MP) soldiers.

Masked gunmen shot dead the two MP soldiers, where a paramilitary Rangers-led surgical operation has been underway for the past two years.

The gunmen struck when the military men were sitting inside their official jeep near Gul Plaza. According to preliminary post-mortem reports, both were shot once in the head. The bodies were later moved to the PNS Shifa Hospital.

Sindh Rangers offer Rs2.5m reward for information on killers of military police

Sindh Rangers issued a Rs2.5 million reward on Wednesday for information leading to the capture of those behind the attack on military police in Karachi a day earlier.

"A reward of Rs2.5 million will be offered to the individual who will come forward as a witness and name the assailants responsible for the attack," a statement issued by the Rangers said.

Two military men’s killing raises stakes

Sindh Rangers have requested cooperation from the public and have urged locals to come forward with any information. Further, they have assured the public in their statement that any names of those who come forward will be held in confidence.
