National Games: Photo exhibition begins today

PESHAWAR: A photo exhibition and competition displaying highlights from the 31st National Games opened at the Qayyum Sports Complex in Peshawar on Thursday.

The exhibition has been organised by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Olympics Association.

Provincial Minister for Sports Syed Aqil Shah formally inaugurated the exhibition and competition in which 23 photojournalists have displayed 101 photographs.

Secretary Sports Azam Khan, Secretary Organizing Committee of the 31st National Games Zulfiqar Butt and Director Sports Mir Bashar Khan were also present.

After the public show, a committee headed by Chairperson of the Provincial Assembly Standing Committee on Sports Shagufta Malik, and comprised of Secretary Sports Azam Khan, Secretary Information Azmat Hanif Orakzai and Senior Sports Journalist Ijaz Ahmad, will judge the best photographs put on display and finalise its decision on Friday.

Aqil Shah said that Rs20,000, Rs15,000, Rs10,000, Rs7,500 and Rs5,000 cash prizes will be awarded to them at Wadan Hall, University Town.

Rs500 per photograph will go to photo-journalists who displayed their work during the exhibition, up to a maximum of three photographs for Rs1,500.

The awards ceremony for best photograph will be held at Wadan Banquet Hall, near Shah CNG University Road.
