Muslim family forced to leave theatre for 'disrespecting' Indian national anthem

A video of a Muslim family being asked to leave a theatre in India for not standing up for the national anthem has gone viral on social media.

The short video clip shows a group of people arguing with the Muslim family who they accuse of making excuses for not standing up in respect of the Indian national anthem.

As the family is forced to leave the theatre, people can be seen welcoming the act with applause.

The Times of India reported they could not verify where the incident took place as some reports claim it was in Mumbai, while others stated it happened in Bengaluru.

Many took to Twitter to express disgust at the level of intolerance, while the video posted on Facebook has been shared thousands of times.

Please stop playing national anthem in movie theatres and attacking people for not standing up.

Infact, many journalists, bloggers and anti-state elements in Pakistan openly criticise Pakistan and it's system but noone attacks or sensor them. It's almost fashion for people here to criticise their own country. PS. Put your house in order first before it's too late. @pakistani: Ah! you can't blame them. For the longest time, Indians have beleived in their greatness and superiority. It's hard to admit that they are not that awesome as they beleived.

Also, It wrong to titel Muslim family forced, can be written family forced.... as no one knows religion by their face.. later on by name Media came to know they are Muslim, had they been Muslim,, there were no place in news for this incidents... They don't have to standup.. keep defending the intolerance in India and one day when it bites you personally you will realize that its too late... We, in Pakistan, are getting rid of intolerance with the concerted effort of the army.. every country has some degree of intolerance. Problem with Indians is that you fail to admit it
