Beyond misconceptions: Activists defend PILER against criticism

HARIPUR: Social activists in Hazara have condemned allegations levelled against Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (PILER) of receiving funds from India. The claim was made in a media report last week and has raised speculations over the organisation’s activities. Speaking at a meeting held Saturday evening, representatives from various NGOs - including Human Development Organisation (HDO), Sahara Foundation, Sungi Foundation, Rural Development Project and Sustainable Development Vision - raised objections over these allegations. Naimat Gul, a representative of HDO, said the media report had been fabricated and defied journalistic ethics. “The claims sought to malign efforts made by PILER to secure the rights of labourers and other marginalised segments of society,” he added.
