Netflix develops ‘Narcos’ video game
Pastime developed to keep viewers engaged until release of show’s second season
The hype surrounding the crime-drama television series Narcos is showing no signs of dissipating anytime soon. The TV series, which premiered on Netflix this year, is being labelled as one of the breakout hits of the year.
Aiming to capitalise on its popularity, few engineers working at Netflix have created a video game revolving around the television series, reported Netflix Life. With anticipation for the second season growing with each passing moment, Netflix has created a game to keep fans of the series engaged with the show.
The game which has been created for PC, is already being described as being very addictive and a fun way to spend a few minutes during your downtime.
The series, which is based on the life of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, details the efforts of the US government to catch the notorious criminal. Only a season old, the series is already ranked among the 50 best drama TV shows on Netflix.
‘Phaijal’ to take Netflix by storm
With the release date for the second season yet to be announced, rumours surrounding the show are already rife with many predicting that the season finale may witness the death of the titular character, reported Kpop Starz.
In an interview with the publication, series director Jose Padillha offered an insight into the plot for the second season, which will depict the formation of the Medellin cartel, while also highlighting the lives of other small-time criminals.
“You got two teams running together through the narrative: one of them is the Medellín cartel; the story of small-time criminals who stumbled by luck, by chance, upon a product that you can call the perfect product and how cocaine hit America,” said Padillha.
Narcos stars Wagner Moura in the lead role with Pedro Pascal, Raul Mendez and Boyd Holbrook playing principal characters. The show’s second season is expected to premiere in either the summer or fall of 2016.
