These attacks will create the same sufferings for Muslims as were experienced after the 9/11 attacks
LARKANA: The Paris attacks have, once again, pushed the world into a new quagmire. The brutal killings of innocent people will have serious repercussions for Muslims throughout the world. These attacks will create the same sufferings for Muslims as were experienced after the 9/11 attacks. The Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the atrocity and has, furthermore, threatened to attack all of Europe.
This is a very alarming situation not only for the West but for the Muslim world, too. The statement of Pope Francis in this regard has caused international analysts to think objectively over the possibility of a third world war as intimated by the Pope.
No one can ever refute the fact that Pakistan has remained the frontline state in the war on terror for over a decade now. After the Paris attacks, the world has stepped into a new phase of diplomacy to deal with the IS as a real threat to world peace. Therefore, Pakistan is, again, expected by the international community to work towards eliminating terrorism. It is, in this regard, necessary for both, the civil and military leaderships of our country to put their heads together to review our foreign policy and take into account the costs and benefits in the past that Pakistan has had borne when playing a pivotal role in the war on terror.
