ISLAMABAD: I am shocked by Salmaan Taseer’s assassination. The interior minister says that his police guard shot him dead and that this was because the governor had called the blasphemy law a black law.
This clearly shows the level to which extremism has penetrated into our hearts and minds. There were people who were supporting him on his viewpoint about the law, while others were opposing him. But this does not mean that a person expressing such views on an issue be silenced in this manner. Mr Taseer’s death is a stark reminder to all of us regarding the deteriorating state of our minds.
