ISLAMABAD: The issue raised by Zubair Torwali is interesting and one that needs serious attention. Torwali and the languages of Gilgit-Baltistan have a long history. In the past, these languages served in the development of the Gandhara civilisation and a study of their present form and use could give much-needed insight into the history of the region.
The questions that should first be addressed, however, are: how can such research be done? What is to be its scope and nature and from where will the funding for this kind of project come?
