Police behave with people as if they are dealing with savages, not civilised individuals
TURBAT: It seems that the Karachi police have no sense of moral responsibility in terms of their behaviour towards the public. They are responsible for the maintenance of peace and the rule of law. I would like to draw the attention of the government and the DIG to the behaviour of police officers in the city, who indulge in verbally abusing citizens and humiliating them. The police behave with people as if they are dealing with savages, not civilised individuals.
Not long ago, a woman was detained by the police on a charge of mobile phone theft. Instead of carrying out a routine interrogation, she was beaten mercilessly. It seems that the police have no inkling of how to investigate crime and instead resort to violence to extract confessions out of those accused.
