We tend to pay lip service to ideals like tolerance and patience and it is about time that we acted upon this.
TORONTO: This is with reference to Syed Mohammad Ali’s article of December 31 titled “Intolerance towards our minorities”. As Pakistanis, we need to celebrate our diversity and this includes those who may not share our faith. After all, this is what tolerance is all about. However, we tend to pay lip service to ideals like tolerance and patience and it is about time that we acted upon this.
If someone does not have the same belief system as myself, who am I to judge them or say that my beliefs are superior?
We need to accept the fact that minorities are part of the very fabric of our nation. And part of that means that every time there is an atrocity committed against them in the name of faith, we need to speak out against it. If we don’t, then the same elements who are prosecuting our minorities will one day come after us.
