What needs to be done in Afghanistan

Letter January 01, 2011
The Durand Line has been a historic failure and there, too, the writer has analysed this fact well.

ENGLEWOOD, CO, US: Ejaz Haider’s article in two parts “Afghanistan: A response to Musharraf” (December 31 and January 1) was excellent. I think his analysis of the history of the AfPak region is deeply, if not shockingly, revealing to the nature of these multi-layered, regional complexities of both Afghanistan and Pakistan. He has quite deftly dismantled former president Pervez Musharraf’s article piece by piece.

I would highly recommend this article, as well as Pervez Musharraf’s article (December 15) to every US officer/non-commissioned officer heading out to Afghanistan. The politics and history of Pakistan are a must-know for the US army to understand, if we are to truly promote justice and righteousness in the land.

The Durand Line has been a historic failure and there, too, the writer has analysed this fact well.
