A couple of recent incidents of abduction, murder and forced conversion have made one excessively anxious
UMERKOT: A country’s level of literacy is measured by the education of its people. I belong to a poor family in a remote area of Sindh. I have always tried to encourage and send every child to school, including the women in my family. A couple of recent incidents of abduction, murder and forced conversion of Hindu girls have made me excessively anxious, compelling me to stop supporting girls’ education in the area I reside in — solely because of the fact that they are not safe.
Social injustice, lack of security and fear of kidnapping are major concerns that make me question whether I will ever be able to send my sister to college without fear of mishaps.
