Banks should ensure that long advertisements are not displayed at ATM booths
KARACHI: Banks should ensure that long advertisements are not displayed at ATM booths. The withdrawal of money should be a quick procedure, keeping in view the security of the person withdrawing cash. ATM booths are not places where one should stay for more than the cash withdrawal time period — and that, too, should take minimal time. Banks should also ensure regular maintenance of the installed machines so that they don’t hang, giving miscreants ample time to close in on the person in the booth. Some machines have faulty keys, resulting in double-pressing. At other times, ATM cards are captured when a machine hangs and keys do not function properly.
The relevant authorities should take immediate notice of these matters and issue necessary instructions to all banks.
