Development of Ziarat

Letter September 13, 2015
Efforts meant to develop the province, if they see completion, will bring positive change for the people of Ziarat

TURBAT: According to a recent report, Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has said that Ziarat, which houses the world’s second-largest juniper forests, could be developed as a popular tourist spot. He said that chopping down juniper trees would be declared a crime. He is right in saying that people should cooperate with law-enforcement agencies in this regard.

Dr Baloch has made several other promises, such a Rs1 million grant for Ziarat Press Club and the instituting of an annual Ziarat festival. The people of the town can also expect an ambulance service and scholarships for local students. These efforts, if they see completion, will bring positive change for the people of Ziarat. The Balochistan chief minister deserves to be commended for these measures.
