The ruling elite, at all levels, use ethnicity and nepotism as the main criteria to appoint their own
ISLAMABAD: Ethnicity, tribalism, regionalism and nepotism form the sole criteria in the appointment to several key positions in the government sector. The ruling elite, at all levels, use ethnicity and nepotism as the main criteria to appoint their own, what we proverbially call, “blued eyed boys”, into these positions. Foreign postings in any capacity, done by different ministries and divisions, are a classic example that whenever a person is appointed to a position on the basis of ethnicity and nepotism, it becomes almost impossible for that person to see anything wrong in also using the same criteria to distribute public resources or dispense public services to the public. “Pakistan first”, never remains the key objective, policy or principle of such appointees. One must visit any embassy or the high commission of Pakistan abroad to learn about the reality, but who cares in this corrupted-to-the-core society?
