Population control

It is time for govt to take serious steps to control population of Pakistan, or we will face consequences

TURBAT: Though many developed countries today have the capability to produce huge populations, they are doing their level best to control their growth rates. Even some underdeveloped countries have succeeded in this regard. However, the case of Pakistan and some other countries remains totally different as their populations are increasing rapidly.

As per a UN report, Pakistan is the sixth largest country in the world, with a population of 190 million today, estimated to double by 2050. This rapid rate of population growth will mean many more people deprived of basic rights and amenities. The ratio of poverty will peak, resulting in more crime and the extinction of many ecosystems. Therefore, it is time for the government to take serious steps to control the population of Pakistan, or we will face consequences in the shape of great loss and destruction to our ecosystem, which is already deprived of resources.
