Nuclear aftermath

Letter August 13, 2015
It is pertinent for intellectuals of Pakistan and India to make people aware of the suffering of victims of Hiroshima

RAWALPINDI: This August marks the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. No words will be enough to describe the human suffering that resulted from these bombings. Surprisingly, instead of discussing the horrors that nuclear bombs are capable of, many writers prefer to discuss justifications for dropping them when Japan was ready to surrender.

It is pertinent for the intellectuals of Pakistan and India to make people aware of the suffering of victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. This may help our leaders and people make wise decisions, and opt for peace in the region, settling outstanding disputes through negotiations.
