The menace of polio

Letter August 07, 2015
We should learn from Nigeria’s commitment to eliminating the virus, since our country remains at the top of the list

TURBAT: Polio, unfortunately, remains undefeated in Pakistan. This year, too, Pakistan — only one of the few countries that have been unable to eliminate the disease — has had several new cases. Recently, Nigeria marked itself as a polio-free country by not having a single polio-afflicted victim in recent times.

We should learn from Nigeria’s commitment to eliminating the virus, since our country remains at the top of the list of countries, in addition to war-torn Afghanistan, that has been unable to eradicate polio.
