Why not stay abroad for good?

Letter July 24, 2015
The word ‘simplicity’ was clearly planted to fool (read: insult) the people of Pakistan

KARACHI: The families of Nawaz Sharif and industrialist Chaudhry Munir reached Saudi Arabia in two separate chartered aircrafts. Newspapers report that the nikah of Nawaz Sharif’s granddaughter and Chaudhry Munir’s son was solemnised in the Holy Mosque, with absolute simplicity.

The word ‘simplicity’ was clearly planted to fool (read: insult) the people of Pakistan. The already obscene, opulent and wasteful Pakistani weddings have now been taken to a new height by a person who claims to be the representative of its common citizens — a destination wedding, two chartered aircraft and Saudi royal family-supported nikah. Should a person who seeks and prefers to be treated abroad, whose children study and live abroad, who does his shopping and spends his holidays abroad, who has wealth and properties abroad, who seeks asylum abroad, who marries his children abroad, and who even prefers to pray and worship abroad, be the prime minister of Pakistan?
