Choosing a political party

Letter December 20, 2010
Finding a political party is not hard but sticking with it is.

LAHORE: This is with reference to Ayesha Tammy Haq’s article of December 17 titled “Our collective unconsciousness”. Finding a political party is not hard but sticking with it is. Most parties in Pakistan boast good party constitutions and policies and if choosing one were to be decided on the merits, or lack thereof, of party constitutions then each and every party would be a winner.

But the problem is that these constitutions and policies are seldom adhered to. For much of the time, the central leadership of a party makes decisions and these are usually done in a non-democratic manner. The result is that workers, who give their all for the well-being of the party, are sidelined and feel left out, and in the end this is very harmful for the party as well.
