The result on website states that no candidate has passed the written test against the quota set aside for minorities
LAHORE: I would like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards the results of the written test for the post of Lecturer Mathematics (case number 11A2015 and 44A2015). The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) announced the result of the test on its website. There were 108 female vacancies for this post along with 71 seats for males. The result on the website states that no candidate has passed the written test against the quota set aside for minorities, which is five per cent of the total candidates. This is a very surprising development, as well as a very agonising one for minority candidates.
As a Punjab University graduate in mathematics and an aspiring candidate for the post of lecturer, I take the liberty to seek answers to the following questions: 1) why have candidates on the minority quota passed the written test conducted for the post of lecturer in all subjects, except for mathematics; 2) is there some sort of discrimination at play here? Why is it that minorities can easily pass the MSc Mathematics examination, but not a single one of them can pass a PPSC written test for the same subject; 3) the result put up by the PPSC indicates that our universities must be doing a very poor job indeed, not to produce a single minority candidate who could pass the PPSC written test. Why is there such a discrepancy in results of the examination system followed by our universities and the system followed by the PPSC?
The authorities need to inquire into the matter immediately. They must see how many minority candidates appeared for the test last year and cleared it, and how many appeared in it this year and why not a single one of them could pass the test. In previous years, there have always been at least some candidates who have passed the test for the post of Lecturer Mathematics on seats reserved for minorities.
