I cannot believe people on both sides actually believe that one kind of extremism is better than another.
NEW DELHI: I write with reference to your report of December 17 titled “WikiLeaks: Rahul Gandhi says Hindu extremists a big threat”. Why do Pakistani commentators on this article come across so jubilant and why are the Indians so defensive? I cannot believe that there are people on both sides of the border who actually believe that one kind of extremism is better than any other.
We, in India and in Pakistan, need to get over our India-Pakistan, Hindu-Muslim mindsets and realise that this extremism in our midst is a real problem and is spreading fast. We need to nip it in the bud because that is key to a permanent peace between the two countries.
