TURBAT: I would like to draw the attention of the government towards the area of food inspection. The government is not serious about food health and safety in Pakistan. There are many food companies that are not registered but their products are being consumed daily, owing to which the incidence of disease is increasing.
It is the moral duty of a government to implement food inspections. Companies that are not registered and disregard hygiene must be banned. All food products must undergo testing prior to being placed on grocery shelves. Recently, in India, a certain brand of instant noodles was rumoured to be unfit for human consumption due to high levels of lead and after much scrutiny and testing, the company was given the green light for having lead levels that were within normal range and not harmful for consumers. This entire process showed genuine concern for human health and wellbeing. However, in Pakistan, the government seems least concerned with this vital issue.
