Govt should keep in mind the plight of senior pensioners who deserve additional succour considering their advanced age
LAHORE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered the revision of pay scales to give greater benefit to government employees. While this is a welcome decision, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is requested to also keep in mind the plight of senior pensioners who deserve additional succour considering their advanced age.
In this regard, I may refer for consideration the Indian government’s formula of granting additional pension at the rate of 20 per cent to those pensioners who cross 80 years of age. Subsequently, the additional raise is repeated every five years, doubling the pension at crossing the age of 100 years.
