I request the authorities concerned to ensure security for citizens in the city
KARACHI: The prevalence of street crime is one of the major issues facing Karachi these days. Citizens are targeted most commonly through the snatching of mobile phones. Previously, criminal activity occurred in busy markets or highways but in recent times, it has started happening in small neighbourhoods and quiet residential streets. People have been known to lose their lives for showing the slightest bit of resistance to those demanding their valuables at gunpoint.
The major causes of crime are unemployment, illiteracy and poverty, along with lawlessness, and poor performance of the police. The disparities in wealth are destroying the fabric of our society.
I request the authorities concerned to ensure security for citizens in the city.
