The dealing official looked at my original NICOP, then returned it immediately saying, “Come 25 days before expiry"
DUBAIR: I recently went to renew my NICOP which was due to expire in August 2015. I travelled all the way to the NADRA branch in Dubai, followed the queue and finally reached the token-issuing window. Tokens are issued early morning so one has to be there between 7-9am. The dealing official looked at my original NICOP, and then returned it immediately saying, “Come 25 days before expiry of the NICOP.” I was flabbergasted. I had never read about this ‘secret’ rule on the NADRA website anywhere. I asked the dealing official to check my other documents as well so that I don’t have to end up with the same fate again due to some other frivolous objection. He refused.
This shows a total lack of appreciation of what public service means. We are centuries behind the contemporary world. I don’t know if anyone in the government, the interior ministry or NADRA will even read this letter or even understand or take a note of it.
