The radical factor

Letter May 26, 2015
It is a matter of grave concern that we are losing our prodigious minds to these radicals

KARACHI: The news about graduates of universities in Karachi being involved in the terrorist attack at Safoora Goth comes as a shock. It is inconceivable that our youth, the future of our country, could be involved in such undertakings. Until now, we were led to believe that the numerous terrorist organisations were operated by fanatics and warmongers. But, due to our own negligence and ignorance, the menace of extremism has plagued our youth.

It is a matter of grave concern that we are losing our prodigious minds to these radicals. There is an acute shortage of counselling infrastructure for our pupils. Hence, all educational institutions should monitor the demeanour of their students and try to get across to them the real meaning of religion, which supports the notion of ‘live and let live.’
