The only solution is to remove the bins from their current location and install them where they are required
KARACHI: This is with regard to the garbage issue in our locality. The garbage bins installed continuously overflow and there are no strategic points for garbage collection. The waste collected from nearby eateries, vegetable vendors and streets that are 500-600 metres away is dumped in the only two bins installed in our area, causing unbearable stink throughout the day, all the while attracting rodents and mosquitoes. There is supposed to be a huge fine to be levied on people for littering on roads; however, there is no action taken against offenders.
The problem starts after 10pm when people from the adjacent slums, sugarcane juice vendors and others start dumping the waste on the road. To make things worse, there is an overflowing drain adjacent to the bin from which water travels to the rotting garbage. The only solution is to remove the bins from their current location and install them where they are required. Several letters have been written to the municipal commissioner but no action has been taken.
