It is time for the government to initiate a national media campaign to discourage drinking and drug use
KARACHI: The use of narcotics is a great curse for society. It is increasing by the day and has become a menace and a challenge, especially for our younger generation. It seriously affects the nervous system of the user and makes the individual a burden for society.
In our country, countless young adults under the age of 21 drink alcohol and many of them drink heavily, downing five or more drinks per occasion. Children who start drinking are more likely to be involved in fights, commit violent crimes, fail in school, use other drugs, experience verbal, physical, or sexual violence, drink and drive, and develop an alcohol problem than those who do not drink. Most people fall prey to narcotics sellers due to their ignorance and once they are trapped, they become enslaved to these drugs. Narcotics sellers deserve severe punishment because they are greedy and enemies of humanity. It is sadly ironic that often small children are used to secretly sell narcotics, indicating that they have been exposed to the evil at a young age.
It is time for the government to initiate a national media campaign to discourage drinking and drug use, especially by children.
