The government should look at this great crisis with seriousness and do the needful
KARACHI: The water crisis in Karachi has deepening even before summer has begun and people continue to suffer a great ordeal. A major reason for the water crisis is theft of water and the ongoing conflict between the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and K-Electric (KE) over non-payment of dues. The KWSB blames KE, saying that power cuts at pumping stations have caused the water crisis. All departments concerned should be ashamed of their irresponsible behaviour by indulging in blame games.
The demand for water has increased manifold with the rise in population in Karachi. The city needs at least 1,000 million gallons of water per day whereas only 650 million gallons of water are being supplied. The city faces a shortage of around 350 million gallons of water. The government should look at this great crisis with seriousness and do the needful for the betterment of the water situation in Karachi.
