The authorities should not mislead the people regarding the gas reserves the country has
KARACHI: “Pakistan has reserves of natural gas” — this statement implies that whatever the situation in the country, every household will be supplied gas 24/7. But is this the reality? A few days ago, some relatives of ours had come from Rawalpindi to visit us and we were perplexed to hear the abysmal state of gas supply in that city.
They said that for a week or two, there has been no gas in their stoves and so cooking has been an extremely strenuous job. Now this gives us food for thought; can we ever imagine a similar shortage of petrol in Saudi Arabia? No, right? It is because they have so much oil at Karachitheir disposal. So when these people say that Pakistan has gas reserves, why is there this shortage of gas? The authorities should not mislead the people regarding the gas reserves the country has.
