Praise, don’t criticise, the army (II)

MOUTAINVIEW, CA, US: With respect to George Fulton’s article of December 8, I don’t buy the claim that the Taliban have the support of the army. WikiLeaks has not revealed any unequivocal statement of a US diplomat or any other responsible person to this effect. American claims in the media about this are a tactic on their part to intimidate our men in uniform.

Of course, no one is denying that in the past the Taliban had help from Pakistan, but this should not be taken to mean that this is happening even now. If anything, the military is fighting the extremists and for that it is paying a price.
