With the newest trend of e-books and movie adaptations, bookworms seem to be living a lonely existence
KARACHI: This is apropos Saadia Qamar`s Speaker’s Corner “The bookworm in me” that appeared on the April 23 issue of The Express Tribune. Her story evidently reflected her passion for reading books and novels.
Sadly, there aren’t many who can claim to share this love of hers for the wonderful smell of new books or the feel of a leather-bound fiction or merely the dog-eared paperbacks from their childhood. This affiliation has long been replaced by the bright Ipad, or smartphone screens, or by PSPs, as is the case with our generation these days. Book-reading, and that, too, a solid compilation in your hand, is an item that is now associated with ‘archaic’ and traditional habits. With the newest trend of e-books and movie adaptations of famous works of literature, bookworms seem to be living a lonely existence.
