The Karachi Police are failing in encountering this spate of targeted killings. All this needs to stop.
I’m writing this letter in response to the news story “T2F director Sabeen Mehmud shot dead in Karachi.” (April 25). Targeted killings are least likely to end in Karachi any time soon. Even after so many operations, this vice has continued to flourish in the country’s largest city. An average of five people die daily in Karachi. From influential people to common folk, all are affected by this heinous crime.
In the last week, two prominent people were targeted. Debra Lobo, the vice-principal of Jinnah Medical and Dental College, was shot at on Shaheed-e-Millat Road but fortunately survived. Masood Hamid, who was the marketing director at Dawn, was found dead in his car.
And now, Sabeen Mahmud, who was the director at T2F, has been shot dead. The Karachi Police are failing in encountering this spate of targeted killings. All this needs to stop. Crime in Karachi is increasing by the day. Authorities need to take the financial hub of the country seriously.
