Our ‘brotherly’ friends

Letter December 07, 2010
We need to choose our friends carefully and the criterion should be that this should be in our national interest.

LAHORE: This is with reference to Raza Rumi’s article of December 7 titled “Our ‘brotherly’ friends”. We need to choose our friends carefully and the criterion should be that this should be in our national interest. The House of Saud is a monarchic dynasty and is obviously a political entity — it is not a spiritual body as such and nor does it want to be.

We should indeed trade with the Saudis — but in economic goods and commodities, not in ideology and education/indoctrination methods, the fundamental pillars of the “jihad industry”. Being a source of cheap labour only allows us to be more subservient to the countries where our labourers find employment.
