LAHORE: The much-awaited visit of the Chinese president is expected soon during which various bilateral agreements of vital importance will be signed. One of the bilateral agreements between Pakistan and China will be a prisoners’ treaty. This treaty will make the exchange of convicted prisoners possible between the two countries.
Currently, almost 500 Pakistani prisoners are languishing in Chinese jails for crimes like drug trafficking, human smuggling, etc. A well-articulated punishment system augurs well not only for law and order and the security situation of any country but also guarantees upholding human rights while executing justice. It is hoped that the government will keep working sincerely to ensure human rights as this will enable Pakistan to prosper as a nation.
