Maddening traffic

Letter April 02, 2015
I still wonder how up to six people manage to travel on a motorcycle here in Karachi

KARACHI: In the sea of Karachi’s traffic, I have observed that human life is very cheap. I have been living in Karachi as a Turkish student for two years now. Unfortunately, I have witnessed a lot of accidents during my stay in the city, especially by collisions with oncoming rickshaws and motorcycles.

I still wonder how up to six people manage to travel on a motorcycle here. It is incredible. Never have I seen such a thing in any other part of the world. In addition to this, I want to say something to traffic police officials: You are not a traffic light! When someone has an accident, please come and help us.
