Traffic regularisation in Rawalpindi

Letter March 26, 2015
We would urge the traffic authorities to implement the same laws in Rawalpindi, that were implemented in Islamabad

RAWALPINDI: Unlike Rawalpindi, in Islamabad, many steps have been taken to implement safety precautions on road travel such as an insistence on seat belts and helmets. People who violate traffic rules have been repeatedly issued tickets in the past. To some extent, the citizens of Islamabad have become more organised and vigilant when it comes to following traffic rules. On the other hand, according to a recent survey, a huge number of traffic accidents have taken place in Rawalpindi due to a lack of implementation and the violation of traffic rules.

We would therefore urge the IG of traffic police and the traffic authorities to implement the same laws in Rawalpindi, with the same kind of diligence as they are doing in Islamabad. We are looking forward to the day when these double standards will be eliminated.
