An excellent parade

Letter March 25, 2015
The Pakistan Day parade is another feather in the cap for our quiet army chief.

RAWALPINDI: On March 23, the nation was witness to an excellent show. More than full marks for everyone who took part in the Pakistan Day parade, including the commentators, the media and most of all, the organisers for giving the country a parade for the first time in years.

However, the most important impact of the parade was on the morale of the entire nation, on everyone in all walks of life and all strata of society. The Pakistan Day parade is another feather in the cap for our quiet army chief. Today, he is undeniably the number one force and personality in Pakistan. And yet, he appears to shun the limelight. That is his greatest strength. It is said that: “Petty minds talk of themselves, small minds talk of persons, average minds talk of events, great minds talk of ideas. But the greatest act is in silence.”

This saying absolutely fits our army chief. May God bless him.
