KARACHI: The way news is broadcast in Pakistan is very awkward. When viewing broadcasts, we often come across heartbreaking news of bloodshed and loss of innocent lives reported by anchors in a manner ostensibly aimed at breaking the viewers’ hearts all over again.
News that is gory and saddening should be reported with respect, compassion and with a sense of mourning. What we see instead is anchors maintaining a nonchalant facade, making the most horrifying story appear as an everyday affair.
