Attack on churches (II)

Letter March 17, 2015
We also should not be targeting our Christian brothers and sisters and should instead empathise with them

KARACHI: After the unfortunate events of March 15 when two churches were attacked in Lahore resulting in many deaths, two men were brutally lynched and torched by people posing as protestors. After this incident, people have started blaming the entire Christian community and ridiculing them which is not at all fair. We all know that Pakistan requires unity in order to counter the designs of terrorists whose sole aim is to create such rifts between us.

But instead of comprehending this, people have now started speaking out against the entire Christian community in our country on different platforms without understanding that a few miscreants do not represent the whole community’s mindset. The same people feel bad when others make generalised statements against Muslims and speak out against this kind of stereotyping as much as they can. Similarly, we also should not be targeting our Christian brothers and sisters and should instead empathise with them after the tragedy that has struck them.
