The scourge of corruption

Letter March 14, 2015
The ultimate cause of poverty, chaos and lawlessness in the country is corruption

ISLAMABAD: Corruption is widely reported in Pakistan but rarely punished, particularly in Sindh. There is ‘lootocracy’ in every public-sector organisation. Dishonest people at the helm of affairs in various organisations consider themselves to be above the law and practise corruption and promote corrupt subordinates. Corruption is costing the people of Pakistan their lives — no one is safe in this country and no one gets justice because there is corruption. The ultimate cause of poverty, chaos and lawlessness in the country is corruption.

The media and whistleblowers within organisations expose corruption in the public sector, but it appears that the relevant federal and provincial organisations are not serious about fighting against the scourge of corruption.
