In all civilised countries, senior citizens are given benefits in all walks of life to make rest of their lives easier
KARACHI: I would like to bring to notice of the authorities concerned that the discount given by all DHA-operated clubs to senior citizens that allowed them to pay only 25 per cent of the subscription fee that regular members were paying has now been raised to 75 per cent. This will be a big burden on senior citizens who anyway have no source of regular income. In all civilised countries, senior citizens are given benefits in all walks of life to make the rest of their lives easier. However, in Pakistan the reverse seems to be the case.
Your readers should know that the victims of such a harsh decision are only civilian members of these clubs since military personnel already pay an entrance fee and a monthly subscription fee that are next to nothing.
Surely, there must be many other ways to generate extra income, if that is the intention behind this ill-conceived scheme.
I hope the decision to increase the monthly subscription for senior citizens will be taken back.
