Authorities need to look into increase in airfare & let passengers get the benefit of fuel price reduction.
KARACHI: Now that fuel prices are substantially lower, including the fuel used in aviation our domestic airlines, instead of giving benefit of reduced prices to their customers in the form of fare reduction, have instead astonishingly increased the fares. The other day, I was trying to book my seat online from Lahore to Karachi and to my utter surprise, I found that all fares had dramatically gone up with the average increase being of around 20 per cent. Gone are the days when two local private carriers used to offer domestic fares almost 40-50 per cent less than that of the national carrier. Now, all airlines are wreaking havoc on the passengers’ budget.
Although I am not too optimistic about anything being done to rectify this situation, the authorities concerned need to look into this unjustified increase and let passengers get the benefit of fuel price reduction.
