It is hoped that the Pakistan-China relationship will not only achieve new heights
LAHORE: Sensitised by India-US vows of increased diplomatic intimacy and nuclear cooperation, the balancing Pakistan-China relationship is again at its elevated point. The Chinese foreign minister has confirmed that the Chinese president will visit Pakistan at the earliest, which will most probably be on Pakistan Day, March 23.
As a goodwill gesture of warmth, the medal of Hilal-e-Pakistan has been awarded to the visiting minister. Pakistan and China have reiterated that they will work together to strengthen their economic and defence ties to “deepen their converging interests”, to enhance people-to-people contact and cultural exchanges, and to reinvigorate and bring fresh momentum in this vital and affectionate relationship. It is hoped that the Pakistan-China relationship will not only achieve new heights, but will also play a promising role in regional and international affairs and the nuclear balance of power. This visit, along with an enhanced commitment of friendship, and the upcoming visit of the Chinese president is no doubt a success of the government’s diplomacy and our diplomatic machinery.
