Allocation of land

Letter November 30, 2010
Land in Pakistan is not allotted to people because of their services but rather as a means of handing out patronage.

LAHORE: This is with reference to Ayesha Siddiqa’s article of November 28 titled “Land allocation and the principle of eminent domain”.

Land in a country like ours is not allotted to people because of their services to the state but rather as a means of handing out patronage and rewarding people for their services to a particular narrow cause. I would say that it is, in fact , reward for purchasing the conscience of people.
