The GSP Plus boost

Letter February 10, 2015
It is hoped that govt will continue making beneficial efforts to facilitate the various elements in the economic chain

LAHORE: Our exports to the European Union (EU) have received a promising boost of $1 billion after operationalisation of the GSP Plus status for Pakistan.

The GSP Plus status has enabled our products to have duty-free access to EU markets, which have had a beneficial impact on our exports. Such boosts not only set a promising tone for the country’s economy, but also encourage investors in other industries to increase their investments. A vibrant economic chain provides consumers with quality goods and services, and also generates numerous employment opportunities. It is hoped that the government will continue making beneficial efforts to facilitate the various elements in the economic chain to boost the country’s economy resulting in welfare for common citizens.
